APPLICATION PROCESS

We are aware of the fact that there are a great number of people who are eager to participate in Indigenous Terra Madre/International Mei-Ramew 2015. We would love to see the participation of as many people as possible and we will do our best to accommodate everyone. However, due to limited funding, facilities and logistical constraints for a small city like Shillong, there will be a limit to the number of people who will be accepted. Participation at the ITM 2015/IMR 2015 will therefore be subject to the submission of a nomination form and its approval.

Please note that the submission of an application does not mean that you are approved to participate in the event, except in the cases of specially invited guests.

NOMINATIONS & SELECTION PROCESS

Nominations will be open only for Partially Sponsored and Fully Self-Paid Delegates from 1st to 28th August 2015. To apply, you will need to fill an online form and submit your nomination.

Fully-Self Paid Sponsored Delegates are those delegates who self-fund the entire cost to attend the event - travel expenses and on-ground costs.

For International Delegates, this means self-funding the international and domestic flights, visa costs, travel insurance, and the costs of attending the event (logistics, transfers, meals, accommodation, etc.)

Flight advice: Please book your international flights to either New Delhi or Kolkata airport and then the connecting domestic flight to Guwahati, preferably with the same PNR number. Kindly plan your travel so that you arrive in New Delhi or Kolkata airport with a direct connection to Guwahati (with at least 3 hours transit time). If you prefer to transit for one night in Delhi or Kolkata on your way to/from Guwahati, there is an on-ground cost package that includes this facility.

Please ensure that your flight arrives at Guwahati airport on 2nd November 2015 no later than 14:00 hours. For your departure, kindly book your flight from Guwahati on 8th November 2015 no earlier than 14:00 hours to New Delhi / Kolkata, with a direct connection to your international flight (with at least 3 hours transit time), or overnight transit, if you prefer with the purchase of the cost package.

Kindly purchase the appropriate travel insurance to cover your entire travel and stay in India.

For Indian National & Regional Delegates, this means self-funding flights, train, buses, cars, etc. directly to/from Guwahati or Shillong, and the costs of attending the event (logistics, transfers, meals, accommodation, etc.)

Arrival in Guwahati should be no later than 14:00 hours on 2nd November 2015, and departure should be no earlier than 14:00 hours on 8th November 2015. For those arriving by car or bus directly to Shillong, please ensure that you arrive by 18:00 hours on 2nd November 2015 and depart by 12:00 hours on 8th November 2015.

The on-ground cost package is available online for viewing only. Purchases can be done only after selection confirmation by the organisers. This applies to both international and national delegates.

Nominations will be reviewed on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Link to the Indigenous Partnership, Slow Food International or NESFAS
  • Indigenous Community or working with Indigenous People
  • Connected with food
  • Expertise in the conference areas

We will review your profile and send a confirmation email if your participation has been officially approved. This email will also have instructions on the next steps to be followed for online registration.
